Advanced Locomotion v1.02

Reworks on-foot movement into a horse-style tap-to-increase locomotion system.

Build speed in tiers, maintain full sprint with repeated taps, and tweak it all through a documented INI with in-game toggle and reload hotkeys.

Required:
ScriptHookRDR2 V2

What is ADVLOC?
Advanced Locomotion (ADVLOC) gives on-foot movement in RDR2 a very different feel.

Instead of the usual vanilla acceleration stages, speed builds in more granular stages by tapping sprint (A or X if using a PS controller). Walk, build pace, push into a run, and keep tapping if you want to hold full sprint. The result is movement that feels more deliberate, more physical, and a lot less flat.

This is not just a “go faster” mod. ADVLOC was built to change the rhythm of movement without making a mess of animations, transitions, or special states.

What it does
– Sprint taps raise movement speed in tiers (configurable)
– Left stick still controls movement magnitude
– Full sprint must be actively maintained, just like in vanilla
– Stamina only drains during true top sprint, again like vanilla
– Movement stops cleanly at neutral left stick unless optional momentum is enabled
– Enables same movement speed in camp as in the open world

Features
– Horse-style tap-to-increase locomotion on foot
– Configurable speed tiers
– Optional momentum slowdown
– Optional water speed control
– In-game toggle hotkey
– In-game INI reload hotkey
– On-screen toggle and reload notifications
– Built to behave properly during normal gameplay, crouch, water transitions, camp carry states, and interaction animations

Why use it?
If you have ever thought horse movement in RDR2 feels more satisfying than movement on foot, this mod leans into that idea.

ADVLOC adds buildup to movement. You do not just press a button and instantly hit the same rhythm every time. You work into speed, hold it with intent, and get a much more tactile feel out of basic traversal.

Config
The included INI is fully documented and easy to tweak.

You can adjust:
– speed tier feel
– sprint grace timing
– stamina drain
– water behaviour
– momentum slowdown
– keyboard hotkeys

Preset examples are also included for quick testing.

Default Hotkeys
– F10 — Toggle ADVLOC on/off
– F11 — Reload ADVLOC INI in-game

This makes it easy to compare vanilla and modded behaviour instantly, and to test new settings without restarting the game.
Bug reports are encouraged, but should be tested by toggling the mod off first to determine if caused by ADVLOC.

Installation
– Copy the .asi and .ini files into your Red Dead Redemption 2 game folder
– Make sure ScriptHook RDR2 V2 is installed
– Launch the game
– Use F10 to toggle the mod on or off
– Edit the INI and press F11 in-game to reload settings without restarting

Notes
– Designed primarily around controller movement, but should work as expected using keyboard controls
– Keyboard hotkeys are included for quick testing and live config reload
– Default settings are intended as a balanced starting point
– Momentum is optional and disabled by default
– Water speed control is optional and enabled by default

Compatibility
ADVLOC was built to preserve stable behaviour during normal gameplay and common special movement situations. It is designed to avoid breaking animation flow rather than brute-forcing speed changes everywhere.

As with any movement-related mod, compatibility with other mods that directly alter on-foot locomotion may vary. Not recommended.
