Bounty Hunting – Notorious Outlaws DLC v1

Notorious Outlaws focuses on freeform, dynamic captures. Every gang member is wanted, O’Driscolls, Skinner Brothers, Murfree Brood, Del Lobos, and more. Hunt them down at their hideouts and deliver them to the nearest jail, dead or alive, for a reward. No missions, no hand-holding, just open-ended bounty hunting on your terms.

Description
Use this DLC only after completing the mission “Good, Honest, Snake Oil”. That’s when the jail delivery system becomes available in the game. Using it before that may cause jailhouses not to work properly.

This project of mine focuses on freeform, dynamic captures. It works for both players: Arthur Morgan & John Marston

The Goal of this DLC
For now you can use the vanilla hideouts and random ambushes to track down gang enemies and bring them in. They are spread all over the map so you will find plenty of organic bounty hunting opportunities without needing anything scripted. You can also use any other hideout mods. This mod is fully compatible with them. One of the core ideas behind this mod is to fix what always felt missing in Red Dead Redemption 2. The ability to capture enemy gang members and take them to jail. It always bugged me that we couldn’t do that. So this mod is my way of finally making it possible.

Installation instructions
– Place the asi file and the bounty_config ini file into your Red Dead Redemption 2 game folder.
– Then place the file p_cs_newspaper_01x.ytd into this folder: Red Dead Redemption 2/lml/stream/. If the stream folder doesn’t exist create it yourself.
– Start your game
– Once you’re loaded in press F12 to activate the mod.
– By default the mod is disabled every time you launch the game so you’ll need to enable it manually each time. The reason the bounty hunting mod is disabled by default is because if it were always active, it would automatically trigger a bounty job the moment you pick up or hogtie a gang member and that can sometimes interfere with certain story missions, cutscenes, or other scripted events in the game. To avoid those conflicts, the mod starts off disabled so players can choose exactly when they want it active. It keeps the experience stable and prevents the bounty system from kicking in at the wrong time.

Mod Toggle Reminder
– Press F12 at any time to turn the mod on or off.
– Pressing F12 during a bounty mission will cancel the mission.
– You can change the toggle key to something else by editing the bounty_config ini file. This system keeps the mod story-friendly and fully under your control.

Custom Bounty Poster Note
– The mod includes a custom bounty poster that replaces the in-game newspaper prop.
– You’ll find it inside jailhouses for added immersion.

Blackwater and Armadillo – Jail Cutscene Notice
You might be wondering why you do not get a cutscene when delivering a bounty to Blackwater or Armadillo. In Rockstar’s original story Arthur Morgan was not supposed to enter New Austin. Because of that Rockstar didn’t create jail cutscenes for those locations.
However I added custom logic so you can still deliver bounties there. You will drop them off and collect your reward at the sheriff’s desk.
Tumbleweed jail is the exception. Rockstar did include a working cutscene there for Arthur and this mod fully supports it.

Requirements
– ScriptHook RDR2 is needed for the mod’s code to run.
– Lenny’s Mod Loader or LML is used to load the custom bounty poster texture.
