You have to earn the old brass compass by performing a number of challenging tasks. The main one is to find the 20 different dreamcatchers that are scattered all across the map of Red Dead Redemption 2. These will be found across the entire map, meaning you have quite a bit of searching ahead of you.
However, once you finally find them all, you just have to go to Elysian Pool. In this region there is a clearly noticeable waterfall. Behind this waterfall is a dark cave which you’ll have to reach the end of. At this end, you’ll find that there’s a painting.
