Molly Improvements – Fixes and Grave Restoration v1.0.1
Enhances Molly O’Shea’s appearance by improving her texture quality and restoring various cut assets. Also restores her grave (with inspectability) and appearance in “The Gilded Cage”.
Molly O’Shea is perhaps one of the most tragic characters within the game. Despite being so desperately in love with Dutch, she is constantly pushed aside and treated horribly until her drunken, violent demise. And apparently, the developers overlooked her just as much. I was shocked to see that not only were Molly’s face textures extremely subpar compared to the other gang members, but perhaps her most prominent appearance in the game (at the Mayor’s Party) was cut altogether. Even her grave had been removed, left despawned and under the map during developmental terrain changes.
This mod attempts to fix these issues, bringing Molly back into her well-deserved spotlight through various improvements.
Mod Overview
The material maps are quadrupled in resolution, being entirely remade to fit the detailing of Molly’s albedo and normal maps (both of which have also been upscaled to 2048×2048 resolution).
In Game Comparisons
As a result, her skin detailing and ambient occlusion are greatly improved. Her freckles are seen more clearly, and her mascara is properly defined. The Beta Hair model has also been restored, with fixed model normals alongside her winter outfit’s hair.
Eye Comparisons
Molly’s beta eye color, found embedded in her face albedo, has been restored in 1024×1024 resolution; she also now has higher resolution eyebrows/eyelashes. Optionally, the eye color from her Artbook Render has been restored in the same resolution.
Necklace Comparisons
Molly’s necklace has been given all-new HD textures, sporting a mix of the beta detailing and custom edits. The gemstone has also been massively improved, now looking closer to her Cover Art. Additionally, all of her vanilla neck seams have been fixed.
Body Comparisons
Molly’s unused torso materials were restored to improve the skin, with the material map being doubled in resolution. The ambient occlusion map levels were also darkened to match the face.
Skirt Comparisons
A higher resolution normal map for her skirt was restored, and the albedo was doubled in resolution to match.
New Outfits
Molly now dons both of her cut Camp Outfits during Chapter 3.
The Gilded Cage
Molly now makes an appearance at the Mayor’s Party in her cut Gala Outfit, acting as a hidden lookout for the gang.
Grave Restoration
Molly’s grave has been restored next to Beaver Hollow and can be inspected by the player.
New Textures
The grave’s dirt textures now match the surrounding vanilla environment of Beaver Hollow.
Installation
Make sure you have ScriptHookRDR2 and Lenny’s Mod Loader installed. Then extract the contents of the .rar into your main RDR2 directory (the lml folder and asi files).
