Western Movie Look Reshade
A cinematic Reshade preset for RDR2 inspired in the visual of some old western movies.
Western Movie Look is a preset made with only few resources from Reshade Framework, with a custom made LUT and some details enhancements. It will make you have the feeling of an old western movie while playing Red Dead Redemption 2. The performance impact should be minimal or none, depending on the PC specs.
REQUIREMENTS
For NVIDIA users: If you are using HDMI conection, Its VERY IMPORTANT to set your Dynamic Range in full, in the graphics card control panel (see this image). For AMD Users: open AMD control panel, click on Gaming tab > Games > Global Graphics > Display > Pixel Format and set to: RGB 4:4:4 Pixel Format PC Standard (Full RGB).
INSTALLATION STEPS
1- Download the latest Reshade from: reshade.me ;
2- ( EXTREME ATTENTION IN THIS STEP ) – For DirectX 12 API: Run the executable to install the Reshade and click to select the game —-> Your system will be scanned for the games installed, so select Red Dead Redemption 2 (OR if it does not appear in the list browse until find the game executable .exe and click on it ) —-> Confirm —-> select Direct3D10/11/12 (and click inside this same bar) —-> In the shaders collections window click on “Uncheck All”, you will see that the first option can’t be unchecked, no problem, roll down and select ONLY the last option (Legacy Standard Effects) —-> confirm and wait —-> in the FIRST shaders list click on “Uncheck All” again —-> OK and WAIT until the download of the next one is finished —-> in the SECOND shaders list you can also uncheck all boxes and select only these ones: Border.fx , LUT.fx , LumaSharpen.fx and Vibrance.fx (yes, I use only these 4 shaders in this preset).
– For Vulkan API: The same for DirectX 12 mentioned above, the only diference is that you need to check the box “Enable ReShade in Vulkan globally” right after run the Reshade .exe file, ald also need to check Vulkan instead Direct3D10/11/12 after confirm the installation for Red Dead Redemption 2.
WARNING: The firewall from some antiviruses can block the download of shader files during Reshade installation (Message: “Unable to Finish Download”). If it is happening to you turn off the firewall temporalily
and try to install Reshade again. In some cases even Windows can block the installation and you will need to check the options in Windows Warning to go on with the install. There is not any viruses in these
files, its a false positive.
3- Open the game folder, open the file Reshade.ini , go to [INPUT] and modify the KeyMenu line to KeyMenu=113,0,1 ( Its high recommended to do it, otherwise the Reshade ingame menu hotkey will be the same of the Rock Star Social Club one ).
4- Download my mod from files tab of this page, and extract the content to the game folder, click on YES to overwrite when prompted;
5- Run the game, use “shift + f2” to open Reshade menu, click on continue and at the bar near the top select the file “Phoenix.ini” , so click on “continue” bars and “Finish” bar at the bottom of the menu, then “shift + f2” again to close it. NOTE: If you dont like the black bars at the top and the bottom of the screen, uncheck Border box in the Reshade menu (home tab).
6- (Optional) If you want to set a hotkey to Enable/Disable the Reshade Effects you can do it on Reshade menu Settings tab > Effects Toggle Key (I use F3 key to turn ON/OFF all the effects)

UNINSTALLATION
– DirectX12 API users : To uninstall you need to delete: reshade – shaders folder, Phoenix.ini, Reshade.ini and the 2 dxgi files from Dark Souls Remastered folder.
– Vunkan API users : After delete the files mentioned above you also need to run the Reshade .exe again and uncheck the box “Enable ReShade in Vulkan globally” and close ( Note: Some files can’t be found in the game folder, but no problem, only uncheck the box and everything will be fine).
